Norah’s Glitter Mess

April 14, 2019

I hope you are enjoying your weekend as much as I am. Family day yesterday as we spent the day with my parents, sisters, and alllllllllll our kids. So. Many. Kids! LOL!

Speaking of kids, let me share a funny story. Well, not so funny at the time, but funny nonetheless. A few weeks ago I walked upstairs calling for my daughter Norah. She answered me and I asked her what she was doing. “Nothing!”, she said as she came skipping out of my craft room. I was preoccupied with something else, but I knew I should have known something was up.

Fast forward a few hours later and as I go into my craft room what do I find? A cup 2/3 full of my glitter!!! Not red glitter, or purple, or blue, or green, or my bling glitter. I mean AAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL my glitter. At least all the colors I use on a regular basis. Some were even brand new and not opened!  Some fine glitter, some extra fine glitter, and even chunky glitter. My daughter knew mama was NOT happy. See! So. Much. Glitter!

She bee-lined it to her room crying, telling me she was sorry, over and over again. I needed a minute to decompress from the situation so I went downstairs for a breather and to fill my husband in on what happened.

My husband suggested not to get too mad at her, she only wants to do crafts like her mama. Ok, ok, fine. Maybe he’s on to something but I was still NOT happy. There was close to $30 in glitter all in one cup! My husband asked if I threw the glitter mix away. No way was I doing that! He suggested to use what she created and make her something with it. He has good ideas sometimes. 🙂

Norah’s favorite color is blue. I had just prepped a cup for her and wanted to use this great color of glitter I got off of Amazon – Darice Ocean Blue. It was over 3/4 empty so there was no way I had enough for her cup. I decided to use the hot mess of glitter on her cup with fingers crossed it would come out. The glitter mix was a little challenging to work with as it was kind of chunky and thick. I used the mod podge method and as I started I was very optimistic. This was the final layer before I put epoxy in it.

The only challenge was the bottom edge of the cup. It was on the thicker side but I was still pretty happy with the coverage. Next time I will only use one layer when I make another cup with this mixture. It covers pretty well.

And here is the end result! Ta-da!! Isn’t it so pretty! I did have to put three layers of epoxy, the chunky glitter needed the extra coverage. My daughter loves it!! I love it too, it is actually a very pretty color. Even though I was pretty upset, it all worked out in the end. Now I have a new color of glitter mix to use in my projects. 🙂

Now to get ready for soccer Sunday, family dinner later ~ hubby’s grillin’, the weather is amazing, and then GAME OF THRONES!! Wooohoooo!

Have a wonderful and relaxing Sunday!

Glitter Tumblers – I am HOOKED!

June 6, 2018

I have a new obsession and I am hooked! Ok, maybe two obsessions ~ Glitter and resin. I want to glitter everything and cover it in the super shiny resin! Side note ~ I love customizing wine glasses, coffee mugs, and clothing with vinyl, I have etched wine glasses and beer mugs too. The weather is warming up and next week we will be in the upper 90’s, pushing 100*. You are going to want something that will keep your drinks cold for hours! I had ice in my cup from my Starbucks Pink Drink and the next day, there was still ice in my cup! Bring on the stainless steel tumblers!

These are my firsts and I LOVE them! They were gifts for my sisters and they loved them too!

Stay connected with me on social! I will be sharing all my cups there. I may have one that is right for you! If there is a cup I can customize for you leave a comment! I would love to hear from you! I will get back to you right away!

Love You Grandma!

March 1, 2017

Hello Friends!! I realize it’s been quite a while since I posted. Not for lack of trying, trust me!! January and February have come and gone…seriously, where does the time go!? One of my “resolutions” was to blog more often, you can see how that is going. Hahahaha! I still have that goal and will try and tackle monthly goals instead, seems more reasonable that way instead of looking at the entire year, that can get a little overwhelming.

This past Thanksgiving, my mom captured these AMAZING pictures of my little Norah with her great-grandma, my grandma. I look at these pictures and my heart just melts! For those that do not know, my grandma will be 102 years young this coming April! Yes, 102! It is truly amazing and we are all so blessed! The love Norah has for my grandma is the true definition of unconditional love! I have been looking at these for a couple of months now and new I had to create a layout that was just as special as the love they share!

Love You Grandma

I came across this sketch from Got Sketch and the inspiration hit me!! The gray cardstock I had on hand was a perfect match to the MME Cut and Paste Collection I had on had already! I love it when I can turn to my stash and find the perfect color and pattern combination. As I had my layout ready to be secured down, something was missing. I remembered I had some prima flowers in, you guessed it, my stash! They were a plain blank canvas and needed something to give them that extra pop! What I absolutely love about these flowers is you can do just about anything to them. You can paint them, ink them, spray them, they are so versatile and can really help make your page extra special. I had a bottle of Tim Holtz Distress Mica spray handy and in the best color – brushed pewter! I really love the gray off this page and the pewter color fit right in! With the added bling in the center of each flower, I cannot be more happy with how the page came together.

Last but not least, you cannot have a great layout without the perfect font and title. One of my favorite, favorite, FAVORITE fonts is the Samantha Font. The glyphs included in this font are just beautiful!! You will want to use it in all your layouts! You can get your very own by following my link here!

What do you think? I hope my layout today has offered you a little motivation, inspiration, or just plain made you smile! Please feel free to share, comment, post, pin to your hearts content! I love hearing from you all!

A Birthday Milestone

April 6, 2016

Well, April has started. Is it crazy that we are already four months into the year? Spring has sprung, the weather is warming up (hallelujah, I do not like the cold at all!), and I will have a teenager by the end of the month. Yes, my baby girl, no longer a baby but forever my baby girl will turn 13. How is this possible? Time is a funny thing, especially as we get older. That’s one thing I have a hard time explaining to any of my girls, time. It seems to go at a snails pace at their age. For me, wasn’t I just bringing her home from the hospital? The day I gave birth to her is still fresh in my head, her first day of kindergarten is right there, just like it was yesterday. Her love of sports starting with cheer and seeing the “big” girls cheering on that first day of school and counting down the days when she was old enough to be a cheerleader. Sofia has never been afraid to do and try new things. Her love of sports, in one year playing volleyball, soccer, and basketball.

We were at the grocery store recently and she was going through the cake options. She pointed out a cake she wanted for her birthday. As soon as I saw it I got super, super excited! I don’t think she understood exactly why her mom was going nuts. Why you ask? It was the color and theme of the cake ~ Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I LOVE the color scheme and immediately my brain went to work on what I could do for invites, favors, and decorations for the party.

These invites by far are my favorite! I love the color and how great they turned out They are simple, but elegant. Not too old, just right for my beautiful daughter hitting one of the big milestone of birthdays.

Just in Time for Easter

March 25, 2016

Hi Friends!!

I’ve been dying to create something fun, cute, and springy…is that even a word? I took my inspiration from a project I saw pop up on my news feed from Echo Park!

If you are wondering where I got the awesome frame, say no more! My Scrap Chick has a special right now and I loaded up on a bunch of fun files! These frames are the best! I can’t wait to make more!

One of my favorite features using my Silhouette is the Print and Cut feature. I added some color to the eggs and my little bunny. Instead of cutting out the layers, I print and cut around the shape! I almost feel like it is a cheat way around designing!

Happy Easter
