Back to Basics, Scrapbooking Basics

August 31, 2016

This summer sure has flown by!! With my four girls, my “day” job, soccer all summer, I have not been able to share as much on my blog as I would like to! BUT…I am back! 🙂

This past past weekend I was able to get back to basics. My first true love in paper crafting, scrapbooking. I actually put two pages in albums and started a third page. If you are limited on time like I am you know how exciting that can be. My plan was to actually share a live video of my new favorite tool for my Silhouette Cameo, the PixScan mat. Obviously my great plan did not work out the way I wanted. I went to plug in my Cameo and out of the corner of my eye, a spark! What?? I checked and my power adapter was frayed, and not in a good way! Talk about ruining a perfectly good Sunday evening! UGH!! Needless to say my night was ruined! Luckily with a quick search in Amazon, I am set! Check back soon, I plan to share what the PixScan can do in adding that extra touch to your layouts by pretty much cutting anything out!

In the meantime, let me share with you a couple of layouts that are done and done! Even though I was down and out with my machine, it allowed me to get back to basics and the simplicity of scrapbooking. No die cut machine, no nothing. Just simple layouts that share what is important, the photos and the memory.

My 2nd daughter, Ella just turned 10 last week. When I came across this photo of us it seemed fitting to create a quick little page for her. Thsi is really one of my favorites…she has the sweetest smile.

And then there is my two year old Norah! She is something else! As the baby in our family, her albums are not nearly as full as her sisters. Ok, lets be honest here, her 1st year album is a little sparse! I try and make an attempt to get to as many pages for her and the rest of her sisters for that matter. Common’ though, scapbooking is really a never ending hobby! What I liked best about these pictures, they capture her little personality so much! They were perfect to crop down to 2 1/4″ square and worked perfectly with this grid layout. I love grid layouts! They are so easy and come together so quickly.

Love You

Thanks for taking the time to hang out and share in my memories. Check back later this week for my first tutorial on using the PixScan, you won’t regret it!

Every visit means so much to me! Feel free to share the love and leave a comment below.

Graduation Time!

May 24, 2016

It’s that time of year again! Graduation time! When the tassel really is a big hassle! Even though it’s been…ahem ahem, ohhh never mind how long it’s been! I can remember all the excitement we had leading up to the big day! The memories and friendships made, so much to look back on. Graduating from high school is a pretty big deal! You should be so very proud of everything you have done. It’s a time to look back and reflect on all of your accomplishments! Give yourself a BIG pat on the back, you did it!! Graduating is not a right and is definitely something you worked so very hard for! You have earned the honor to walk with your classmates and get that diploma! You should be so very proud!

Two of my nieces are graduating from high school on Wednesday. I am so happy and proud of both of them! Their party is this coming weekend and of course I was asked to make their invites! It’s kinda my thing and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

graduation invite

My go to paper for most of my cardmaking is Recollections by Michaels. Their 12×12 individual sheets are just the right weight and their 8 1/2 x 11 paper packs work great for adding the details of the party to print at home. They always have great sales on both items! The file I used is the Rounded Pocket Invite Fold Over by Jamie Lane Designs. I love all of her cards and this was the perfect invite to use to allow me to include the details of the party and individual pictures of the graduates.

To all the graduates, here is to YOU!! The rest of your life starts NOW! Make the most of it, don’t be afraid to spread your wings and fly!! You and only you control where your life takes you from this day forward!

Happy Graduation to the Class of 2016!!

3D Rolled Flowers ~ Super Easy

May 22, 2016

Hi my crafty friends!!

The weather is kinda crazy this week. It was in the 90’s earlier this week, the past couple of days, it’s been cold and rainy. I don’t get nearly as much time to craft or scrapbook as I would like. Who has the time when you have 3 out of 4 children in sports? I am secretly happy TBall is over as of today.

I made it a point this past Mother’s Day to work on something super special for my mom. As Mother’s Day was approching I was getting down to the wire. I am a member on a few different groups on Facebook for my Silhouettte Cameo machine. These groups are so much fun! Such a great group of women (and men!) from all over the world sharing ideas, projects, tips, and support.

The past few weeks I’ve noticed a lot on the 3D rolled flowers and shadowboxes. I had the files for some time now (common’, how many files do you have but have not used yet?) I made one flower and it was downhill from there. I wanted something special for my mom for Mother’s Day and this was it! Shadowboxes were all over Pinterest and Facebook and I knew a shadowbox gift with the rolled flowers was the perfect gift!
Shadowbox Rolled Flowers

I picked up the shadow box from Michael’s, they had a great sale just before Mother’s Day. Their 8 1/2 x 11 Recollection paper is honestly the best paper I have found for the rolled flowers. It is not too thick and not too thin. If you need to know it is a 65lb paper. Velum works great too and Michael’s vellum rolled very easily. I think I like it better than the white.

I am debating on doing my first instructional video for the rolled flowers. Share your thoughts below if you are interested and would like to learn how to make these. They are super easy and honestly, very therapeutic.

Happy Sunday everyone! Feel free to share some love below! I’d love to hear from ya!

A Birthday Milestone

April 6, 2016

Well, April has started. Is it crazy that we are already four months into the year? Spring has sprung, the weather is warming up (hallelujah, I do not like the cold at all!), and I will have a teenager by the end of the month. Yes, my baby girl, no longer a baby but forever my baby girl will turn 13. How is this possible? Time is a funny thing, especially as we get older. That’s one thing I have a hard time explaining to any of my girls, time. It seems to go at a snails pace at their age. For me, wasn’t I just bringing her home from the hospital? The day I gave birth to her is still fresh in my head, her first day of kindergarten is right there, just like it was yesterday. Her love of sports starting with cheer and seeing the “big” girls cheering on that first day of school and counting down the days when she was old enough to be a cheerleader. Sofia has never been afraid to do and try new things. Her love of sports, in one year playing volleyball, soccer, and basketball.

We were at the grocery store recently and she was going through the cake options. She pointed out a cake she wanted for her birthday. As soon as I saw it I got super, super excited! I don’t think she understood exactly why her mom was going nuts. Why you ask? It was the color and theme of the cake ~ Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I LOVE the color scheme and immediately my brain went to work on what I could do for invites, favors, and decorations for the party.

These invites by far are my favorite! I love the color and how great they turned out They are simple, but elegant. Not too old, just right for my beautiful daughter hitting one of the big milestone of birthdays.

Just in Time for Easter

March 25, 2016

Hi Friends!!

I’ve been dying to create something fun, cute, and springy…is that even a word? I took my inspiration from a project I saw pop up on my news feed from Echo Park!

If you are wondering where I got the awesome frame, say no more! My Scrap Chick has a special right now and I loaded up on a bunch of fun files! These frames are the best! I can’t wait to make more!

One of my favorite features using my Silhouette is the Print and Cut feature. I added some color to the eggs and my little bunny. Instead of cutting out the layers, I print and cut around the shape! I almost feel like it is a cheat way around designing!

Happy Easter
